Environmental Commitment
At Butter Block Ltd, the butter pad sits at the heart of everything we do and our relationship with it is, let’s say, complicated.
We love the Butter Block butter pad because it works. It allows snowboarders to train anywhere, at any time, without snow. It helps build balance, board control, confidence and muscle memory when the mountains are far away. In a country like the Uk where access to snow is limited, the butter pad opens the door to year-round progression. It keeps people moving, learning and connected to snowboarding long after winter ends. That’s powerful and we’re proud of it.
But we don’t pretend it’s perfect.
Our butter pads are made from plastic, and through normal use they create small plastic fragments. That’s something we take very seriously. Plastic is durable, functional and currently the best material for delivering the realistic feel and longevity riders expect – but it also comes with an environmental cost. Ignoring that reality would go against everything we stand for.
So instead of hiding from it, we face it head on.
Butter Block Ltd exist in the real world where performance and responsibility must be balanced. While we continue to research better materials and improved designs, we’ve made a clear commitment to take responsibility for our impact today.
For every butter pad sold, Butter Block Ltd plants one tree.
Tree planting isn’t a perfect solution – but it’s a meaningful one. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, restore ecosystems, and represents long-term investment in the planet we ride on. It’s our way of giving back for every product we put into the world.
We believe progress – on a snowboard or as a business – comes from honesty, accountability and constant improvement. We love the butter pad for what it gives riders. We hate what it costs the environment. And we’re committed to doing better with every step forward.
This is Butter Block: real riding, real responsibility, real progress.
Protect our winters.
